The first round of the Illumine Professional Development Programme for primary school teachers from Serbia has been completed

by Illumine28 July 2022

A total of seven primary school teachers from Serbia completed a 10-workshop professional development programme as part of Illumine project, coordinated by archiPLAY. The programme was launched in September 2021 and the last workshop was held on June 28, 2022.

Across 10 months, participants attended a series of workshops on evidence-based teaching and learning practices grounded in the Science of Learning. Teachers were encouraged to develop a ‘Teacher as a Researcher’ approach, and to implement their own research projects using these evidence-based strategies with their students. The group was formed of class teachers as well as subject teachers, so the experiments included various inquiry questions and chosen practices.

After the interventions that they did individually or in pairs, teachers reflected on the results and lessons learned together. They expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the experience and insights gained during the programme. We as coordinators feel the programme met expectations to empower teachers for further research, testing and adopting of evidence-based practices into their every day teaching.
