ILLUMINE, an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership (K201) project co-funded by the European Commission, aims to help school education teachers design more effective learning experiences for their students by making use of research-informed teaching methods that are grounded in cognitive neuroscience (science of learning) and that make use of digital technologies for education.
Universitat Pompeu Fabra alongside partners from the Centre of Excellence in Educational Innovation School of Digital Technologies at Tallinn University (Estonia), the Institute of Psychology within the Faculty of Philosophy at University of Belgrade (Serbia), Kokoro Association (Portugal), ArchiPLAY (Serbia), and Escola Pia de Sarrià (Spain) have since the beginning of the school year started to implement the first set of two workshops, dedicated to Collaborative Teacher Inquiry and Introduction to the Science of Learning.
Associate partners to the project include the following schools: S. Gonçalo College (Amarante, Portugal), Medical school “Nadežda Petrović” (Belgrade, Serbia), Primary School Braća Baruh (Belgrade, Serbia), and Primary School Mihajlo Petrović Alas (Belgrade, Serbia). These schools collaborate to create and test a teacher continuing development program focusing on designing research lessons that make use of learning technologies and apply concepts from the science of learning.
