The partner Kokoro Association, with the special collaboration of the Illumine associated partner Colégio de São Gonçalo de Amarante, organised the Illumine Teaching Symposium in the premises of Colégio de São Gonçalo.
This event counted with the participation of the Illumine project partners, as they were attending the fourth transnational meeting in Porto and travelled to the city of Amarante to participate as keynote speakers. The main objective of the session was to share with the school community practical examples of the application of teaching strategies that promote a more efficient and effective teaching-learning process.
With the presence of the Councilor for Education of the Municipality of Amarante, Dr. Adriano Santos, and several school directors and many teachers (in total 36 participants), as well as students from some secondary school classes, the presentations and sharing of results were in charge of Professors Marc Beardsley (University of Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona), Nataša Simić (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade), Merike Saar (University of Tallinn), and Catarina Neto (Kokoro Association).
The students from Colégio de São Gonçalo played an important role in the organisation and presentation of the Symposium. The students of the course ‘Cultural and Recreational Tourism’ had the opportunity to co-organize and present the event, including their peers: Professor Eduardo Kosta and the student Vitória Nogueira played the Amarantina Viola; the Estúdio 89/CSG-EC participated with contemporary ballet; and, other students presented acrobatic gymnastics.
Participants in this event shared positive feedback about the Symposium through an online survey, highlighting as strong points the agenda and the possibility of having simultaneous translation.
