On Saturday, June 3, Illumine collaborated with two not-for-profit organisations to bring the bilingual ResearchED event on evidence-based education to Barcelona, Spain. The full-day event at the Barcelona Auditorium featured 6 experts speaking on evidence-based education and was hosted by author and educator, Héctor Ruiz Martín. A number of the presentations referred to key strategies featured in the Illumine project such as retrieval, distributed, and interleaved practices – and highlighted the need for more initiatives, like Illumine, that bridge research and practice.
The Illumine project was disseminated in the event to an audience of over 120 educators including school leaders, government staff, and school teachers. Teachers participating in the event were eligible to receive professional development credits and have access to the recorded presentations for a year.
Three Illumine project members participated in the event: Marc Beardsley, coordinator of Illumine from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and two teachers, Cristina García Pérez and Patricia Falcó Font from Escola Pia Sarrià-Calassanç.
